I used to think aprons were just for the big messes – the doughs, cake batters and greasy fingers.  Then I heard a TV chef saying that the two things that improved her cooking skills were simple upgrades: an apron and comfortable shoes.

Since then I’ve been getting used to the idea of “suiting up” before cooking anything. My kitchen uniform is a polka-dot Anthropology apron and a Gingham patterned apron my friend Kelsey gave me a few years back. I alternate between the two, depending on my mood.
And here’s my sad shoe reality – I love Crocs. I fell in love with them a while ago when my roommates gave me a hot pink pair as a joke. And it’s atrocious, I know. And sometimes I go to the grocery store in them. But damn they’re comfortable, hideous foot clouds that cover all toes from potential knife slips. It is what it is.

Below are some cute aprons choices from West Elm, Food52 and H&M . Zara Home also has an aaaamazing apron selection..who knew!

About the author

Here you will find food stories about the recipes I tackle in my kitchen. I promise to always be experimental. There may be food flops and poetic blunders. It’ll be reverse logic - good food that looks bad, bad food that looks amaaaazing, a solid try, a lazy attempt, a ton of stuff and little bits of nothing.
